Our clients brief required us to rethink their ordinary quarter acre block whilst also maximising their outlook to the borrowed landscape of the bushland reserve which adjoined the rear of their property.
We constructed a stabilised decomposed granite path which had informal herbaceous borders and encircled a central garden. The path widens to a fire pit area where a bespoke fabricated hot plate designed to swivel on and off the fire.
Planting themes followed a water use zoning principal incorporating thirsty flowering soft wooded perennials and ferns at the top of the garden near the tap and a more drought tolerant locally native zone at the rear.
Transplanted shrubs, palms, cycads and fruiting trees were also interspersed throughout to add depth to the composition.
